How to use it
- Choose a region. “Islands” covers island areas such as Ganghwa, Yeongjong, Geoje, Namhae and Ulleung.
- Choose who you travel with. Where too few trips match, the ranking uses everyone and says so under the result.
- Filter by what you want to see, and switch between most visited and best rated.
- Press “Build a day course from here” on the place you most want to visit.
Example: a day in east Jeju
Starting from Seongsan Ilchulbong, the sunrise peak on Jeju’s east coast, the tool builds Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone → Seopjikoji → Gwangchigi Beach → Hamdeok Beach. Time spent at those stops adds up to 3 h 30 min before driving between them, so the course leaves room for lunch and a slow coastal drive rather than crossing the island.
Switch the group to “With kids” and the ranking changes: Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market moves to the top, and 뽀로로앤타요테마파크 제주 (Pororo Aentayotema Park Jeju) rises to number 3. The same island looks different depending on who you travel with.

How these numbers were counted
- Real visits. The National Information Society Agency’s domestic travel log data records every stop on 11,520 trips taken in May–Aug, with the order of visits, time spent, a 1–5 rating and whether the traveler would return.
- Inside the region only. Only sights, restaurants and cafés with an address in the region count. Homes, lodging, stations and rest stops are left out.
- Privacy first. A place appears only if 10+ different trips visited it, and a same-day pair only if it happened 5+ times. No coordinates or dates are used.
- English names. Names, addresses and short descriptions come from the Korea Tourism Organization’s English tourism data where a matching entry exists.
Frequently asked questions
How are the places ranked?
By the share of trips to that region that stopped at the place. In Jeju, Dongmun Traditional Market comes first at 19.9%. “Best rated” instead sorts places visited on 10+ trips by their average rating.
How is the day course built?
It starts at the place you pick and adds, one at a time, the place most often visited on the same day as the stops already chosen. Restaurants and cafés are capped at two, and branches of the same shop count once. The length follows how many places travelers in that region usually visited per day.
Why do some places show a Korean name first?
English names and descriptions come from the Korea Tourism Organization. Where it has no English entry, the tool shows the Korean name with a romanized version, which is what you need to show a taxi driver or search a Korean map app.
Were these trips taken by foreign visitors?
No. The logs were kept by people living in Korea during May–Aug, so summer beaches rank high and some places popular with international visitors rank lower. Check opening hours before you go, since places may have opened or closed since then.
